It’s not uncommon for me to meet my couples for the first time at their engagement session, and this was the case with Mark & Karen last weekend. This makes the engagement session all the more important, as we’re not only focused on getting some great images, but a major goal is to get to know each other! The couples get to become more comfortable in front of my camera and get a sense for how I work, and I get to see how they interact with each other, how they are most comfortable, and a feel for their personalities. With Mark & Karen, this was an easy, flawless process. We met at their gorgeous downtown home and I seriously had to try to keep it cool about how much I loved their home. I’m not so sure I pulled it off :) They have an amazingly restored character home that is the perfect mixture of old and new and I was in my glory in there! I was super thankful when they showed me around a bit so that I didn’t have to sneak off and snoop!
Mark & Karen both assured me that they don’t photograph well and wished me luck. HA! Turns out that they were completely wrong and are actually awesome. They have this obvious warm & cozy connection with each other and an undeniable mutual attraction. They were happy to snuggle in and were quick to laugh… and it wasn’t a show, it was all very genuine and it made my job a breeze! Mark, Karen and Sam are lovely to be around and I’m thoroughly excited to join them next weekend in St. Andrews for their wedding!
