Coen | Happy 1st Birthday!

I first met my little buddy, Coen for his newborn session when he was just 10 days old. He was a gorgeous little fella then, and apparently he has just kept on getting even cuter and cuter over the last year! He turned one this month! He’s become quite the entertainer… full of funny faces and quick to laugh at whatever weird sound effects his dad was making. Turns out that he also really likes cake too =) I had so much fun with him! Here are a few favourites…

His mama brought this cute little tie along…

Then we unleashed him on his cake! We had some minor difficulties getting it off the tray, thus the missing frosting =)

Levi & Ruthie | V-Day failure

On Tuesday, Valentine’s Day, it suddenly occurred to me half-way through the day that I should do my proper duty as a photographer mama to take some sort of Valentine’s themed photo of my kids. Due to lack of planning, I grabbed the only red thing they each owned and took them out to the studio to attempt even just one, simple, normal photo of the two of them together. After nearly an hour of trying and much chaos, we threw in the towel and headed inside. Yesterday I downloaded the card and had a look, and since the frustration had long passed, I was able to just laugh at them and decide that it is a very accurate representation of them. Thought I’d share….

Ruthie was on board with the idea….

Then Levi was, but Ruthie was baffled by his affection….

Then it became TOO much affection…

She tried to get away.

But because there was a sucker at stake, he hauled her back and gave me his best forced smile.

Then we were all done.

James & Heather | Engaged

I was a little worried about my session with James & Heather on Saturday morning, simply because it was such a gross day out and I wasn’t feeling overly inspired because of it. There wasn’t any fresh snow on the trees to make everything look so pretty…. and it was cold. So very cold. But, within just a minute of digging out my camera, it was very clear to me that my job was going to be very easy with these two and that the lack of pretty snow was irrelevant. They just snuggled in and were downright adorable!! The way that James looks at her, and the incredibly cute laugh that she has just for him…. so sweet. I’m am loving these…
